SIU investigating after man dies falling from Mississauga high-rise during police call

The province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating the death of a 35-year-old man who fell from a high-rise at Kingsbridge Garden Circle in Mississauga on Wednesday morning.
Peel Regional Police officers were called to the condominium near Eglinton Avenue West and Hurontario Street at approximately 10 a.m. after reports of a distressed male. Officers entered the man's unit and attempted to negotiate with him. He then fell from a high floor, was transported to a local hospital, and was later pronounced dead.
The SIU, an independent civilian agency, is investigating. A post-mortem was scheduled for Friday. No further details were released.
The SIU probes incidents where people die or are seriously injured during police interactions, as well as incidents involving sexual assault allegations or firearm discharge at a person.
