A water main break at Billy Bishop Airport knocked out water service to the terminal building Monday, disrupting flight operations and causing some delays and cancellations.

The cause of the break remains unclear. A large volume of water pooled near one of the runways, visible in photos from the scene.

Airport authorities instructed passengers to check with their airlines for flight status updates. Further updates are being posted to the airport's website and social media channels.

The airport has not yet provided a timeline for repairs or an estimated duration of the service interruption, nor has it disclosed the total number of passengers affected by the disruption.

As HighOnCity reported in July, Billy Bishop's runway expansion project has raised concerns about its environmental impact.
