Durham Regional Police have charged a Durham College employee with luring young girls into sending sexual material online.

Manu Sugunakumar, 23, of Whitby, is accused of using the Reddit username DeliveryNormal7189 and Snapchat handle manu041.01 to target two girls, aged 12 and 13. Police say he solicited what they describe as "sexual abuse and exploitation materials" through the platforms.

Members of the Internet Child Exploitation Unit executed a search warrant at the suspect's home in Whitby, seizing electronic devices. Sugunakumar was taken into custody without incident.

The charges against him include luring a person under 16 to facilitate sexual assault, luring a person under 16 to facilitate sexual interference, and luring a person under 18 to facilitate making child sexual abuse and exploitation material, among others. The charges have not been tested in court.

Police have noted they have "concerns there may be further victims" given his employment at the college. Anyone with information is urged to contact Durham Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
