FIFA's legal team has demanded that Cosmic Charlies, a Toronto cannabis shop, stop selling golden bongs designed to resemble the World Cup trophy, citing copyright infringement.
Shop co-owner Sean Kady says a law firm representing FIFA sent a letter Friday demanding he cease sales and turn over receipts, marketing materials, and profit information for the $50 bongs. The firm asked for details on how many were sold and to whom.
Kady said he sold only one bong to a customer who paid in cash and had no intention of using it for smoking. The customer wanted it as a time capsule, according to Kady, who said he plans to comply with FIFA's request and will frame the legal letter as a keepsake of the moment.
