Ten people have been arrested and face more than 100 charges combined following a months-long investigation into violent carjackings and high-end vehicle thefts across the Greater Toronto Area, Peel police said Monday.
The investigation, which began in March, focused on 21 carjacking and car theft incidents that occurred between June 2025 and April 2026. Police recovered 15 stolen vehicles valued at $1.4 million and four firearms. Two of the arrested were 17-year-olds from Brampton and Mississauga; the other eight ranged from 19 to 37 and came from across the GTA including Oakville, Brampton, Mississauga, and Halton Hills.
Det. Sgt. Earl Scott, who oversaw the investigation, said the alleged offenders brandished knives and firearms during thefts, leaving victims with severe injuries. The criminal network was responsible for organizing and carrying out robberies, arranging sales of stolen vehicles, and recruiting younger offenders, Scott said. Charges include participating in a criminal organization, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, weapons offences, and failure to comply with release orders.
Police shared video of a violent daylight carjacking from last summer showing a driver of a Rolls Royce confronted and attacked in a plaza parking lot. The victim held on to the driver's door before being thrown off as the accused drove away.
Peel police Chief Nishan Duraiappah said the arrests represent "an elimination of threats in our community." The investigation involved multiple agencies including Ontario Provincial Police and forces from Halton, Hamilton, and Toronto.
