The Raptors and Los Angeles Clippers have agreed on player compensation in a potential trade for Kawhi Leonard, with ESPN reporting the deal "could happen today."
According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, the likely centerpiece going to LA is Brandon Ingram. What's still being negotiated is draft-pick compensation between the teams.
Leonard, 35, is coming off one of his most productive and healthiest seasons. He averaged a career-best 27.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists on 50.5/38.7/89.2 per cent shooting splits in 65 appearances. He finished tied for seventh in MVP voting and earned his seventh all-NBA selection.
Multiple reports this week confirmed Leonard would only commit long-term to the Raptors. The Clippers have shown no interest in extending him beyond his final contract year, and the team is open to finding him a new home.
