Former PC minister Stan Cho faces questions over additional dining and travel expenses

Ontario's former Tourism, Culture and Gaming Minister Stan Cho faces renewed scrutiny after reports revealed additional expenses beyond the $16,000 in Toronto hotel stays he reimbursed last week. Reports indicated Monday that Cho allegedly billed his Willowdale riding association — funded through private donations, fundraising, and public subsidies based on election votes — for thousands of dollars in additional charges. These include pricey dinners at steakhouses and lobster restaurants, airline tickets, hotel stays at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier, and costs for renting vehicles from a limousine company.

Cho announced his resignation from cabinet last week, calling the hotel expenses "a mistake" and saying he had repaid the amount billed to taxpayers. He represents Willowdale, a 20-minute drive from Queen's Park.

When asked about Cho and other Conservative politicians with comparable or larger expenses, Premier Doug Ford said only that "everything is unacceptable" but did not address whether Cho would remain in the PC caucus. The issue has drawn fire from interim Liberal Leader John Fraser, who called Cho "the tip of the iceberg" and questioned why other cabinet members facing similar expenses have not resigned.
