A Toronto family holding a Diogo Jota jersey was surprised with World Cup tickets to the Portugal-Spain match, travel, accommodation, and $10,000 after being chosen by Portuguese footballer Diogo Dalot.

Canadian content creator Zachery Dereniowski posted a video on Instagram showing Dalot selecting the family to receive two free tickets for the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 match scheduled for Monday, July 6, in Dallas. When Dalot saw supporters holding the number 20 jersey of Jota, his late teammate, he decided to give them the tickets.

"It's a sign for me to tell that person that brought that shirt to give them tickets," Dalot said in the video.

Dereniowski met with the father, Sean, alongside his daughter and son, and revealed the surprise. Beyond the tickets and travel coverage, Dereniowski added $10,000 to the gift. Sean was visibly emotional, and his daughter cried tears of joy at the announcement.

Jota, Portugal's star player, passed away a year ago. The family's tribute to him resonated with Dalot and the broader football community online, with supporters commenting on how the gesture highlighted football's power to unite and heal.

Portugal advanced to the Round of 16 by defeating Croatia 2–1 in Toronto, where thousands of supporters gathered to watch the national team.
