Two German fans arrested at World Cup match

Two men from Germany were arrested and charged with assaulting a peace officer during the first FIFA World Cup 2026 match in Toronto on Friday, June 12.
The incident occurred at Toronto Stadium during the Canada vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina game, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Toronto police said they were called to the stadium at about 2:10 p.m. for reports of disruptive persons.
When officers attempted to remove a fan from the stands, things were thrown at them. Additional officers were called and the situation was brought under control. Two officers were slightly injured and treated at the scene.
The German men, ages 25 and 27, were part of a Bosnian fan group. Both were scheduled to appear in court on Saturday, June 13. Police are asking anyone with additional information to come forward.
