Former Blue Jays catcher Tyler Heineman shared a heartfelt farewell to Toronto after being traded to the Los Angeles Angels for cash considerations Friday.

In an Instagram post, Heineman reflected on his journey with the team, which saw him traded away and claimed back multiple times over five years. "Every time I came back, I loved it more and more," he wrote.

Heineman highlighted the team's historic run last year, when Toronto hoisted its first AL Pennant banner since 1993. "That magical run last year and getting to be a part of an AL Pennant banner being hoisted back in Toronto for the first time since 1993 was electric," he said.

He also praised his teammates and the fans. "The bonds that I formed with my teammates over these last 5 years can never be broken. You are all my brothers and I love you guys more than you could ever know. To the fans, you are amazing… You are the best part about playing for Toronto."

Heineman noted he started his family in Toronto—growing "from a family of 2 to a family of 4"—and said he's excited to join the Angels, the team he rooted for as a child.
