Things to do in Toronto this week: November 1–7, 2026

Vince Staples at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Loreena McKennitt at Massey Hall, and the National Ballet of Canada at the Four Seasons Centre lead a week that splits cleanly between a dry, mild opening and a wet back half.

Sunday and Monday are the days to be outside. Both carry overcast skies with rain chances of just 3% and 4%, and highs reaching 16°C and 19°C, so this is the stretch for a long walk along the Beaches boardwalk, a patio if you can find one still open, or a slow lunch on Queen West before the weather turns. From Tuesday on, the forecast gets damp. Drizzle on Tuesday, light rain on Wednesday, showers on Thursday with a 55% chance, then drizzle again on Friday and Saturday with highs between 11°C and 15°C. Plan the front half of the week around the open air and the back half around a roof and a good table.

Sunday is the busiest day, so pick your moment. Loreena McKennitt, the Canadian singer-songwriter and composer known for her clear soprano, plays Massey Hall at 1:30 PM. At 3:00 PM, Turn of the Century: Elgar, Beach & Sibelius takes over the George Weston stage at the Meridian Arts Centre, with the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius on the bill. Later that evening, Arch Enemy & The Black Dahlia Murder bring their Wrath Across North America 2026 tour to the Danforth Music Hall at 5:00 PM, and The Dresden Dolls, the Boston-formed duo of Amanda Palmer and Brian Viglione, play the Queen Elizabeth Theatre at 8:00 PM. Choose one. Sunday afternoon is the easiest call.

The week's clear headliner is Vince Staples, who plays the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Wednesday at 7:00 PM. The American rapper first came up through the Odd Future orbit, appearing on Earl Sweatshirt's Earl and Doris, and his shows are the one ticket here most likely to sell out the room. Wednesday is light rain, so get a table at Chotto Matte Toronto beforehand and walk the few blocks to the theatre with an umbrella.

The Thursday showers are the week's real test, and the best answer is indoors. The National Ballet of Canada performs four times at the Four Seasons Centre between November 1 and 5, which makes Thursday's wettest hours an easy fit. For the more adventurous, Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse is cooking with Hawksmoor for a three-night collaboration dinner from November 3 through 5, a six-course menu at $250 a person. If that is too rich, PAI does Thai food that works well on a grey night.

Tuesday's drizzle suits the smaller rooms. Music Toronto plays the Jane Mallett Theatre at 7:30 PM, Pivot with Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway runs at the Elgin & Winter Garden Theatres at the same hour, and Sweeping Promises, the Boston-formed post-punk duo now based in Lawrence, Kansas, play Monarch Tavern at 7:00 PM from $34 USD. Monarch is the cozy, low-stakes pick.

Saturday's drizzle is the best excuse for the week's most talked-about food news. Crosstown Craft BBQ opens its first permanent location on Comstock Road on November 7. The Texas-style barbecue pop-up has been selling out in hours, so expect a line on day one. Plan for rotating daily specials and the weekend beef dishes, and bring something to eat in the car if the wet weather keeps you from waiting outside.

My pick for a single night out this week is Vince Staples on Wednesday, because it is the one show in town that rewards a rainy night indoors and a dinner beforehand.
