FIFA Sets $75 Parking Fee for World Cup Games at BC Place
Pre-purchase parking for June matches at Vancouver's World Cup venue is double typical rates. No resale allowed.
FIFA unveiled its official parking plan Friday for the seven World Cup matches coming to BC Place next month, setting a flat rate of $74.99 per vehicle regardless of demand or match popularity.
Fans can pre-purchase parking spots outside the stadium but cannot resell passes and must use the same email address tied to their World Cup ticket. Each customer is limited to one parking pass, and no passes will be sold on match day.
The rate is roughly double what fans typically pay to park in the same area for BC Lions or Vancouver Whitecaps games. It sparked immediate backlash online. "It'd be cheaper to park illegally and then pay the parking ticket," one user wrote on X. "Someone would have to be full-on nuts to play these ridiculous prices," another added.
Vancouver will host seven matches over three weeks starting June 13 with Australia vs. Turkey. Canada plays two of their three group-stage matches here: against Qatar on June 18 and Switzerland on June 24.
Toronto, Canada's other World Cup host city, is charging the same rate. By comparison, official parking in San Francisco and Los Angeles—cities far less accessible by transit—ranges between US$203.45 and US$299.99 per spot, often with additional walks to the stadium.
Alternatively, fans can use other parking lots in the surrounding area, though they'll require a longer walk to BC Place.
