Ottawa Charge Push for Game 7 Comeback in PWHL Finals
Down 2-0 against Montreal Victoire, Ottawa returns home fighting to force a deciding game in the Walter Cup championship series.
The Ottawa Charge are heading home desperate and dangerous. Down 0-2 against the Montreal Victoire in the Walter Cup final, Ottawa faces elimination but also owns the privilege of playing Games 3, 4, and 5 in their building—a psychological lift that's kept plenty of teams alive in playoff hockey.
The series has favoured Montreal's depth and goaltending so far, with Ann-Renee Desbiens standing strong between the pipes. But playoff hockey history is thick with teams that looked finished after two losses only to find new energy on home ice. Ottawa knows they need to steal at least one in Montreal's building eventually, but first comes the psychological reset of playing in front of their home crowd.
Brianne Jenner and the Charge's offensive engine will need to find another gear. The PWHL's best teams don't go quietly, and Ottawa made the finals for a reason. Whether that reason translates into a Game 7 will depend on their ability to tighten defence and convert chances when they arrive.
The series resumes in Ottawa with the pressure firmly on the Charge to produce.
