Drivers on Surrey's Fraser Highway should expect overnight closures over the next five months as construction crews deliver and install beams for the future Surrey-Langley SkyTrain line.

From Sunday to Thursday nights, single-lane alternating traffic will operate between 168 Street and 184 Street from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Starting May 28 and running through late September, intermittent traffic stoppages of up to one hour will occur between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

The work is a critical phase of the Surrey-Langley SkyTrain extension, with beam installation forming the physical spine of the guideway. While evening and overnight scheduling minimizes rush-hour impact, commuters should plan for longer travel times if they use that corridor during night hours.

The project remains on track to bring rapid transit to Surrey and Langley, but the construction window means the next several months will test the patience of drivers in the area.
