Steel & Oak marks 12 years with community parking lot party
New Westminster brewery hosts all-ages anniversary celebration June 20, featuring 12+ beers, vinyl DJs, vintage market, and family-friendly programming.
Steel & Oak Brewing Co. is throwing open its gates on Saturday, June 20, for its annual anniversary party—a return to what the New Westminster brewery calls its favourite day of the year.
The all-ages, community-driven event takes over the brewery's parking lot from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., featuring 12 or more Steel & Oak beers plus a special celebratory release. Vinyl DJs will spin throughout the day, setting an upbeat tone as summer kicks off.
Guests can browse a curated vintage market with local vendors, including vinyl from Relove Records, and grab Hype Ice Cream floats made with custom beer ice cream by Rocky Point Ice Cream—available while supplies last. The first 200 arrivals receive a limited-edition anniversary cup.
New West Family Place will operate a dedicated kids' area from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., making it genuinely family-friendly rather than just nominally so. Key West Ford offers a Safe Ride Home program for those who need it.
Jordan Brett from Steel & Oak framed the event as a thank-you to the community that's grown around the brewery over 12 years. "Every year we try to build on it by adding little touches that make it special," he said. "It's still the same community-first party, just bigger and better."
For a brewery that's been steady rather than trendy, that's a statement worth taking seriously.
