Simple, nostalgic, and purposeful: the Milk & Cookies Shack on the Calgary Stampede grounds has been a fixture for over 20 years, selling an affordable pairing that connects visitors directly to Alberta agriculture while raising funds for food security.
Located beside the north entrance of the Agriculture Building—directly across from the Saddledome—the shack offers milk and cookies for just $3. The milk is sourced from Alberta dairy farmers, and the simplicity of the offering has endured as one of the more affordable food options on the grounds.
Since 2004, Alberta Milk has donated over $220,000 in proceeds from the Milk & Cookies Shack to the Calgary Inter-Faith Foodbank. Last year, the Calgary Food Bank was feeding up to 17,000 people across the city every 10 days. At a time when food insecurity in Calgary is at an all-time high, the donations make a tangible difference.
The stand embodies one of the key pillars of the Calgary Stampede—Alberta's agriculture—and offers visitors a direct connection between everyday consumption and the farmers behind it. Whether it's family tradition, food, fun, or the importance of farm-to-table, the Milk & Cookies Shack shares those values.
The shack operates July 3 to 12 on the Stampede grounds.
