Calgary night markets return with food, vendors, and live music
From June through September, five night markets pop up across the city offering local makers, food trucks, and entertainment in a casual after-hours vibe.
As summer approaches, Calgary's night market season kicks into gear with five different markets popping up across the city, each offering a distinct neighbourhood vibe and community feel.
Night markets operate later in the day as the sun goes down, bringing communities together with shopping, music, food, and live entertainment—all free to enter. They're inspired by East Asian markets but have grown in popularity across North America, including in Calgary.
Here's where to catch them:
**4th Street Night Market** (Central Memorial Park) operates June 20, July 18, Aug. 22, and Sept. 19 from 5 to 10 p.m. Expect a variety of local makers and artists, live entertainment, food trucks, and kids' activities. Pet- and family-friendly.
**Marda Loop Night Market** (34th Avenue between 18th and 19th Street S.W., near Marda Loop Brewing) runs June 13, July 11, and Sept. 12 from 5 to 10 p.m., featuring handmade and vintage goods, food trucks, a beer garden, and live music.
**17th Avenue Night Market** (front lawn of Western Canada High School) takes place July 17 and Aug. 21 from 4 to 9 p.m., designed for "strolling, snacking, and staying a while" with food, drinks, DJs, and vendors.
**Inglewood Night Market** (10th Avenue and 10th Street S.E.) runs June 12, July 10, Aug. 14, Sept. 4, and Sept. 11 from 5 to 10 p.m. Kids and pets welcome in the main area; adults can enjoy a licensed section with alcoholic beverages.
**Calgary Night Market** (917 Centre Ave. N.E., Bridgeland) operates June 19, July 3, Aug. 7, and Sept. 5 from 5 to 10 p.m., offering artisan food trucks, local vendors, and live entertainment reflecting the diverse flavours of Calgary neighbourhoods.
Each market has its own rhythm and neighbourhood character, so try a few and find your favourite spot for summer evenings.
