"If You Could Read My Mind: The Gordon Lightfoot Tribute Show" returns to the Polaris Theatre in Airdrie on June 25, with tickets selling fast.

Lead singer and producer John Paul Byrne, originally from Lethbridge, has earned praise for bringing an authentic, emotionally resonant take on Lightfoot's catalogue. The tribute has been called Canada's truest Gordon Lightfoot experience and carries endorsements from the late singer's former bandmates.

Byrne's decision to perform Lightfoot's work came after decades in publishing. "I think that his voice is one of the greatest male voices on the planet," Byrne said of Lightfoot. "His uniqueness—he took folk to a kind of a new level, it's almost like its own category, where he experiments and writes deep and just beautiful lyrics, beautiful poetry in the lyrics."

Lightfoot, who passed away in 2023, remains a Canadian legend. His songs—universally resonant, deeply poetic, paired with intricate chord progressions—continue to draw devoted fans. Byrne's tribute delivers a transcendent evening exploring that catalogue with respect for its architecture.

"He's a world legend for a singer-songwriter," Byrne said. "I think the best on the planet, the best that the world has ever produced."

Tickets are available through polariscentre.ca. The show will also play Lethbridge's THE PLACE on June 26 and Creston's Kootenay River Theatre on June 28.
