Sled Island brings hundreds of artists to Calgary this month
The five-day music and arts festival runs June 17–21 with over 150 artists, comedy shows, conferences, and special events across multiple venues.
Sled Island is back for another huge year this month, bringing hundreds of local and international artists to venues across Calgary for five days of music, art, comedy, and community.
The festival runs June 17 to 21, with a full schedule of live music events throughout, plus comedy shows, conference panels, exhibitions, and special events. Over 150 artists were recently announced, including hyperpop rapper Lil Mariko making her Canadian debut, LA indie rockers illuminati hotties, emotive alt-rockers Palehound, and Indigenous electronic cello ensemble Cris Derksen Quartet.
Also on the lineup: Winnipeg indie rockers Virgo Rising, ambient pedal steel performer Wayne Patrick Garrett, electronic artist Eejungmi, experimental pop project Tricky FM, and cow-punk ensemble Spank Williams.
Special events this year include the Opening Party and Poster Show Launch at Sled Village (Haus of SpanicArts, 131 6 Ave.), the Sled Island Drag Brunch, Quiz Show, an exhibition featuring Calgary artist Clinton St. John, and the fan-favourite Wrap-Up Pig Roast.
Two nights of stand-up comedy feature performers like Ben Sosa-Wright, Sophie Haze, and host John Cullen, giving the festival a comedy dimension alongside music and art.
Artists serious about their craft can attend the free Sled Island Conference on Friday, June 19, at the Central Library—a day-long summit covering grant writing, DIY event production, branding, mental health, and other career-building topics.
Passes and tickets are on sale now. Some shows are already selling out, so grab yours before they're gone. This is the week Calgary becomes a creative hub.
