Sled Island has released its full lineup for the five-day music and arts festival running June 17 to 21, and it's a sprawl: more than 150 acts ranging from New York hyperpop artist Lil Mariko to a cello quartet from northern Alberta to a metal duo from Whitehorse.
This year's festival is being curated by clipping., the Los Angeles experimental hip-hop trio featuring rapper and actor Daveed Diggs (who won the 2016 Tony Award for originating roles in Hamilton). That curatorial voice shapes the bill: expect sonic adventurousness alongside crowd energy.
Clipping.'s picks include Nigerian-American pianist Sharon Udoh, who will perform at the Palace Theatre on June 20, and experimental composer Christopher Fleeger's Cooling Prongs, which specializes in ambience and sampled-object recordings.

Already-announced acts include Black Country, New Road (UK chamber-pop), HOMESHAKE (Montreal bedroom-pop), feeble little horse (Pittsburgh indie), Thor Harris of Swans, Suffering Hour (Minnesota death-metal), Emily Yacina (California dream-pop), The Retail Simps (Montreal punk), billy woods (NYC experimental rap), Cartel Madras (Calgary), Lana Del Rabies (California industrial), and Backxwash (Montreal metal/industrial/hip-hop).
