Foothills Falcons finish undefeated, sweep the league and South Central Zone banners in Okotoks

The Foothills Falcons finished the 2026 high school girls soccer season undefeated, taking the Foothills Soccer League title from defending champion Holy Trinity Academy Knights with a 5-2 win in the all-Okotoks final on Oct. 20. The Falcons then went 3-0 at the South Central Zone finals in Airdrie on Oct. 22, beating George McDougall 2-0, HTA 4-1 and Cochrane 1-0 to take the zone banner.

The Falcons went 8-0 in the five-team league, scoring 49 goals and allowing seven. Striker Charlie Burnham scored four goals in the final, including the opener in the 26th minute on a counter-attack and a late-half goal off a Brooklyn Goulard corner. Stella Chirzynski scored for HTA on a direct free kick from outside the box, and Chloe Navage equalized for the Knights on a half-volley off a free kick. Anne LeBlanc scored from the left wing for Foothills.

Grade 12 Falcon Brooklyn Goulard said the team's intensity made the difference. "We've wanted this so badly, for so long and we saw an opportunity to push back harder and we took it." Grade 11 Falcon Katana Stemmann said the second championship means a lot to the school and the girls' program.

The season was a return after last year's fall campaign was cut short by the teachers' strike and the team lost every spring game. Goulard said keeping momentum through the fall helped them finish the job. Head coach Kristie Emms said the team's physical and mental strength carried them through the zone format. "They never gave up and pushed through adversity to get all three wins."
