Spruce Meadows is hosting a Barbie-branded weekend celebration during its National show jumping tournament, June 12 to 14, bringing together equestrian sport and cultural icon energy in an unexpected partnership.

The centrepiece is the ChangemakeHER Forum, which will spotlight influential women from sport, business, media, entertainment, and culture discussing leadership and impact. The forum directly connects Barbie's decades-long brand mission of empowering women with Spruce Meadows' own equity story: show jumping is the only major sport where women and men compete head-to-head on a completely equal playing field. It's a natural fit that goes beyond marketing.

Beyond the forum, the weekend includes interactive Barbie Boxes and photo moments in the Barbie Zone, a Think Pink Roller Rink with demos, branded bandana giveaways, live music, shopping, and an outdoor screening of the Barbie movie under the stars. It's designed to feel like a festival experience woven around the sport, not a pop-up advertisement layered on top of it.

Tickets are $15 per person, available at sprucemeadows.com. A portion of all proceeds supports the Spruce Meadows Leg Up Foundation, which provides educational and competitive opportunities for young riders.

For Calgary residents, it's a rare moment when the city's equestrian traditions meet popular culture in a way that celebrates rather than patronizes either side. Spruce Meadows has a global reputation for hosting elite sport; bringing Barbie's cultural weight into that context creates something genuinely different from the typical weekend at the venue.
