The Building Industry and Land Development Association-Calgary Region has named longtime planning and government relations professional Amie Blanchette as its next chief executive officer.

Blanchette will assume the role July 6, succeeding Brian Hahn, who is stepping down after nearly eight years at the helm of the industry association. The appointment comes as the residential construction industry continues to grapple with strong population growth, housing affordability pressures and the need to accelerate new housing development across the Calgary region.

"We are very pleased to welcome Amie Blanchette as CEO of BILD Calgary Region," says Chris Richer, chair of 2026-27 BILDCR board of directors. "As our industry continues to navigate increasing complexity and the need to deliver more housing, strong and credible leadership remains critical. Amie brings deep experience in planning, development, government relations, and association leadership, along with a clear understanding of the issues our members are navigating every day."

Blanchette will lead an organization representing nearly 600 member companies, including home builders, land developers, renovators, suppliers, skilled trades and consultants. Formed in 2017 through the merger of the Canadian Home Builders' Association-Calgary Region and the Urban Development Institute-Calgary, BILD Calgary Region serves as the industry's unified voice across Calgary and neighbouring municipalities.

Most recently with the City of Calgary, Blanchette has also worked for CHBA-Calgary Region, giving her experience on both the municipal and industry sides of the development process. "Amie is well positioned to build stronger, more constructive partnerships with the city and regional stakeholders, while ensuring BILD remains a clear and effective voice for our industry," Richer said.
