Emergency crews pulled a truck from the Bow River near the Zoo Bridge early Thursday morning after someone spotted it in the water downstream.
Calgary Fire Department crews arrived around 6:35 a.m. alongside Calgary Police Service and Alberta Emergency Health Services. A rescue boat was dispatched and confirmed no one was inside the vehicle.
Because vehicles in water risk leaking oil and gas, Calgary Fire Department's hazmat team set up a containment boom to absorb any hydrocarbons and protect the waterway. The truck was pulled from the river around 9:30 a.m., with crews trying to minimize damage to surrounding trees during the extraction.
