A 29-year-old Calgary resident has been arrested and charged following a Cochrane RCMP investigation into allegations of online child luring.
Cochrane RCMP began investigating in May after a parent reported that their child had been sharing intimate photos with someone they did not know. Officers searched the child's devices and identified a phone number and social media accounts believed to belong to the suspect.
Investigators later identified the person involved. On July 9, Cochrane RCMP officers partnered with Calgary Police Service's tactical team to execute a search warrant at a Calgary residence.
Allan (AJ) Rain has been charged with luring a child and possession of child sexual abuse material. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Calgary on Friday, July 10.
Cochrane RCMP encouraged anyone with information about child exploitation offences to contact the detachment at 403-932-2211. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com, or via the "P3 Tips" app.
