Cavalry FC will host Vancouver Whitecaps FC on July 8, at ATCO Field in the second leg of the Canadian Championship quarter-final, with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. on OneSoccer.

The matchup caps a series that begins Wednesday on the West Coast. Whitecaps are the four-time defending Canadian Championship kings, though their future is uncertain — ownership has been exploring a potential sale and relocation to Las Vegas in response to challenges around stadium control and revenue at BC Place.

Mason Trafford, Cavalry's commercial and marketing director, called Whitecaps "legitimately one of the best teams on the North American continent." He framed the visit as a rare opportunity for Calgary soccer fans. "To be able to see that level of soccer in a stadium as special as ATCO Field, with its intimacy, is kind of a once-in-a-lifetime thing," he said.

Cavalry has been building its profile as "Soccer City, Canada" — a tagline that reflects the club's global reach. Several players developed under Cavalry coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr. have gone on to international prominence: defender Joel Waterman plays for Canada's national team, midfielder Mauro Eustàquio now coaches Inter Toronto FC in the Canadian Premier League, and forward Mo Farsi plays for MLS's Columbus Crew.
