Contractors hit gas line in Banff; businesses evacuated ahead of May long weekend

A third-party contractor struck a natural gas line in Banff on Friday morning while conducting road work at the intersection of Caribou Street and Lynx Street around 8:30 a.m. ATCO Gas responded quickly to isolate the leak, with repairs expected to take between four and five hours. At least five businesses in the downtown area were evacuated as a precaution ahead of the Victoria Day long weekend.
