Fort Saskatchewan rang in Canada's 159th birthday on July 1, 2026, with a full day of celebrations that drew thousands of residents despite a brief weather hiccup.
The morning began with a pancake breakfast sponsored by Dow and cooked by Fire Department volunteers. The centerpiece was the downtown parade, sponsored by Pembina, which featured close to 100 entries and lined the streets with cheering residents.
Activities at Legacy Park continued throughout the day with live entertainment on the Bandshell stage, inflatable obstacle courses, a petting zoo, and caricature artists. A vintage car show and shine added to the festivities. Residents enjoyed free admission to the Fort Heritage Precinct and free city transportation, plus an abundance of vendors at the farmers' market.
