High River man charged with second-degree murder in woman's shooting death

A High River man has been charged with second-degree murder after a 36-year-old woman was shot to death at a residence in the town's northeast section on July 29.
RCMP responded to the home just before 6 p.m. after the man called and made allegations against the woman. Officers investigated and determined the allegations were unfounded.
About three and a half hours later, the man called police again. Responding officers found the woman suffering from gunshot wounds. She was taken to High River General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
RCMP arrested the 36-year-old man at the scene. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit is now handling the investigation. Following an interim court hearing, the suspect was held in custody and charged with second-degree murder.
His next court appearance is set for July 31 in Okotoks.
