Howard Gordon Hunter identified as victim of Calgary assault
A 68-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter in the fatal June 22 attack in Tomkins Park.

Calgary police have charged Danny James Turkitch, 68, with manslaughter following the death of 67-year-old Howard Gordon Hunter. The assault occurred June 22, in Tomkins Park on 17 Avenue Southwest.
Following an autopsy on June 23, police confirmed Hunter was the victim. A growing memorial sprung up along 17 Avenue near where he died, with flowers and notes including messages such as "rest in peace, you still are so loved." Police have not released the cause of death but are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them or Crime Stoppers. Turkitch is expected to appear in court on June 25.
