KPMG has relocated more than 800 Calgary-based employees to the KPMG Tower on 4 Street SW, a 31-storey building built in 1988 and recently renovated. The move, completed over the last several months, represents the firm's departure from Bow Valley Square at 6th Avenue and 1st Street SW, where KPMG had been headquartered for 46 years.

The new space spans 120,000 square feet across five interconnected floors configured for hybrid work. The tower includes open collaboration zones, focus areas, dedicated mentor pods, a fitness centre, end-of-trip facilities, curated food options, an espresso bar, and access to a multi-sport and recreation amenity.

Mark Solomon, associate director of project management at Avison Young, which managed the relocation, said the move signals continued demand for premium office space despite market challenges. "Although the downtown market continues to navigate challenges, including elevated vacancy and sublease availability, demand for top-tier office space remains strong," he said.

Brennan Yadlowski, Avison Young's managing director in Calgary, called the relocation an encouraging signal for the downtown office market. "Many are choosing to invest in newer, amenity-rich spaces that help attract and retain talent while making the office a more purposeful destination," he said. The KPMG move aligns with a broader "flight-to-quality" trend, where companies prioritize modern, well-equipped buildings in locations with strong transit access and services.
