New events calendar consolidates Calgary's scattered listings

Calgary's scattered event listings are finally consolidated. The Scene, in partnership with Tourism Calgary, Calgary Downtown Strategy, and Calgary Arts Development, launched a unified events calendar Wednesday that pulls from hundreds of online sources.
"We would hear people say there's nothing to do, and the reality is there were different websites highlighting various things to do, but not in a consolidated way," said Tourism Calgary president and CEO Alisha Reynolds.
The calendar uses human-powered, AI-enabled technology to aggregate and curate events, then feeds them into a shared database. All four partner calendars now draw from the same pool, so an event organizer only needs to submit once for it to appear across Tourism Calgary, Calgary Downtown Strategy, Calgary Arts Development, and RedPoint Media Group's respective sites.
The Scene's editorial team reviews all submissions. Once approved, events enter the shared ecosystem and may appear on any of the four partner calendars depending on relevance.
