Saturday morning brought clear skies and outdoor energy to Calgary. Rafters cut through the water while geese kept pace from the banks. Downtown, the Taste of Venezuela drew crowds eager for food and culture. The Calgary Catholic Immigration Society marked Multiculturalism Day with celebrations across the city.

By Sunday, the weather had shifted. Rain settled over the city, but the energy didn't fade. At Spruce Meadows and watch parties across town, Calgarians crowded into venues to cheer Canada's Round of 32 World Cup match against South Africa. Even as rain fell outside, the city stayed locked on the pitch.
