Woman dies in Mount Bryant hiking fall

A 47-year-old Airdrie woman died Saturday after falling on Mount Bryant while hiking in Kananaskis Country. She was summiting the peak when she fell on the descent, according to RCMP. Several other hikers were with her and called in the incident around 10:45 a.m. A helicopter was dispatched to the scene.

Kananaskis is a popular hiking destination for Calgary residents, especially as temperatures warm. Saturday's incident serves as a reminder of the real hazards on backcountry trails — loose rock, elevation exposure, and the challenges of emergency response in remote terrain.
