Three government benefit payments are hitting Canadian bank accounts next week: Canada Pension Plan (CPP) on May 27, Old Age Security (OAS) on May 27, and Veteran Disability Pension on May 28.

For CPP, new beneficiaries aged 65 can expect an average monthly payment of $925.35, with a maximum of $1,507.65. To be eligible, you must have made at least one valid CPP contribution and be 60 or older. You can claim early as 60, or wait until 70—the amount adjusts based on when you claim.

OAS serves Canadians 65 and older regardless of work history, though residency and legal status requirements apply. Veteran Disability Pension covers members of the Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP, and Second World War or Korean War veterans; payments range from $70.99 to $1,419.82 depending on disability and dependents.

For Toronto-area seniors and retirees already receiving benefits, next week's deposits are routine. For those nearing retirement or veterans considering claims, the deadline to apply is typically months ahead of payment. Check the respective government websites to confirm your eligibility and submission status before May 27.
