KDays is in full swing, and the Foodie Fairway is packed with bold new options alongside carnival classics. We sampled five standout dishes to see which are worth your coin.
Taco Nori's salmon taco was easily the best bite of the day. Fresh salmon and vegetables melded together with a mayo-like sauce, all wrapped in a crunchy tempura shell. If you end up hungry at KDays, this is definitely worth seeking out. Price: $15. Score: 9/10.
The Meltdown's deep-fried cheese curds proved a solid grab-and-go option. The cheese was gooey and delicious, though the seasoning could use more punch. Despite blaring heat that didn't do these bites any favours, the crunch from the deep fry was perfectly timed, making them ideal for walking around. Price: $14. Score: 7/10.
Gen Tea's strawberry cheese cloud bubble tea delivered ice cream flavour alongside a perfumy berry taste—perfect refreshment for conquering the festival. The price is steep compared to local shops, though. Price: $14. Score: 7/10.
Family Squeezed Lemonades' original lemonade was extremely sweet, with particles of sugar going up the straw and not enough lemon tang to balance it. It did provide an energy boost before the rest of the festival, so it earned some credit. Price: $12. Score: 3/10.
Dragons Breath looked cooler than it tasted. Dipping cereal in liquid nitrogen and blowing the mist out of your mouth is fun for a few seconds, but once cereal sits atop ice cream, the texture turns difficult to eat—hard to even get a spoon into the frozen layer. Price: $14.20. Score: 2/10.
