Edmonton's KDays is rolling out more than 50 new food and beverage creations for this summer, transforming the midway menu with inventive spins on fair classics and globally inspired street eats.
Explore Edmonton's KDays director Jessie Radies called the New Foods Competition a summer tradition that draws crowds. "The first question everyone asks when KDays is around the corner is, 'What's new to eat this year?'" she said in a news release. "Whether you're brave enough to try the craziest creation on the midway or you're just looking for your next favourite treat, it's all part of what makes KDays such a fun and uniquely Edmonton experience."
Every submission enters competition judged in three categories — savoury, sweet, and beverage — with a fourth People's Choice award determined by fairgoers' votes throughout the festival. Among standout newcomers are the Monster Cheesy Samyang Takoyaki, Cookies N Cream Korean Dog, and the out-of-this-world Area 51 Taco Burger.
The lineup celebrates what vendors and visitors love about fair food while drawing inspiration from cuisines around the world. Nostalgic midway favourites sit alongside bold flavour combinations and presentations designed to photograph as well as taste. Full details and voting links are available at k-days.com.
