54-40, Econoline Crush headline Taste of Edmonton
11-day food festival returns July 16-26 on Churchill Square with free nightly concerts and 49 food vendors.
Taste of Edmonton is returning this summer with CanCon legends 54-40 and Econoline Crush anchoring an 11-day lineup on Churchill Square, rain or shine.
Econoline Crush opens the festival on Thursday, July 16, at 8:30 p.m. The Vancouver band was the secret sauce of a recent Live show at Rogers Place. 54-40 wraps the music up on Saturday, July 25, at 9 p.m., bringing hits like "One Gun," "Walk in Line," and "I Go Blind" to the stage.
Between the headliners is a mix of genres: Saskatchewan-based country singer Brayden King on July 17; local cover band Uptown (400 songs strong) on July 18; and John Hewitt & the New Americans on July 19. The Mbira Renaissance Band performs July 20, warming up for their Edmonton Folk Music Festival dates. Local indie rock band King of Foxes headlines July 21, Journey tribute Stone in Love on July 22. BC country singer Tyler Shaw plays July 23, with Edmonton rock band Whale and the Wolf on July 24.
All concerts are free. Friday and Saturday shows start at 9 p.m.; other days kick off at 8:30 p.m. for headliners. Music, dance, and taekwondo demonstrations begin at 5 p.m. daily.
The 49 food and drink vendors open 11 a.m. Sunday to Thursday, staying open an extra hour on Fridays and Saturdays. The final Sunday runs 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Through July 14, presale food tickets are $10 off: a sheet of 40 for $59.50 (roughly 10 items) at tasteofedm.ca. The festival delivers free live music, world-class food, and the kind of summer energy that keeps drawing the city back year after year.
