Rice Howard Way, Edmonton's newly appointed entertainment district, launches its Summer Block Party series this Saturday, June 20, kicking off with a Pride-season celebration.

The weekly parties run every Saturday from June 20 through September 19, transforming downtown streets with live music, patio vibes, and local businesses. Each party brings a different theme and reason to gather.

The inaugural Pride-season block party runs 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday with live music from DJ Kena Leon, Maria Dunn, and Shawnee Kish. The celebration includes an art show fundraiser, rainbow patio lights at Sherlock Holmes Pub, and pride accessories for purchase at The Artworks.

The following party on June 27 runs 1 to 5 p.m., celebrating community and neighbourliness.

During permitted event hours, alcoholic beverages purchased from participating licensed businesses can be enjoyed outdoors within the entertainment district boundary. "Support local, keep it kind, and stay within the lines," organizers advise.

The key requirement: drinks must be purchased from participating businesses and consumed within the entertainment district and permitted area.
