The 2026 World Triathlon Cup returns to Edmonton from July 16 to 18 at Hawrelak Park, marking the ninth time the city has hosted the prestigious international event.

After a three-year major rehabilitation project, Hawrelak Park will welcome elite competitors and age-group racers from around the world. The event will feature Elite Sprint and Mixed Relay World Cup races alongside community and age-group multi-sport competitions that people can register for.

Elite Canadian triathlete Tyler Mislawchuk, who was born in Manitoba but calls the Edmonton race the biggest of his career, will compete. "If you are an Edmontonian, having something that big in your backyard, you must feel pretty lucky," he said about the venue's location and post-renovation state.

Stephen Bourdeau, CEO of Do North Events—the longest-running major international sports event organization in Edmonton—said the 2026 World Triathlon Cup acts as a catalyst for the 2027 World Triathlon Multisport Championships, with age-group qualification races running during the tournament.

On the Burson 2025 Ranking of Sports Cities, Edmonton ranks 22 out of 100 international cities and is the top Canadian city on the list. The ranking is based on perception and quantitative analysis consulting sports media, international sports leaders, and industry experts.
