Major river valley routes will close this weekend for the World Triathlon Cup, a two-day international sprint triathlon and mixed relay event running July 18 to 19 at Hawrelak Park.
Saturday will see the most extensive closures. Groat Road between 87th Avenue and 107th Avenue closes from 6 a.m. to noon, while Groat Road between 87th Avenue and River Valley Road closes from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saskatchewan Drive between 116th Street and Emily Murphy Park Road will be closed from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Emily Murphy Park Road, the Mayfair Overpass, and the Hawrelak Park entrance will also be closed all day Saturday.
Sunday will have shorter closures. Groat Road and Saskatchewan Drive (110th Street to 116th Street and 116th Street to Emily Murphy Park Road) will close from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Emily Murphy Park Road, the Mayfair Overpass, and the Hawrelak Park entrance will remain closed.
