Boba Bar closes in Sherwood Park after nearly four years as local bubble tea favourite

Boba Bar, a locally owned bubble tea café in Sherwood Park that became a neighbourhood gathering spot, is closing its doors this month.

Co-owners Rich and Air announced the closure after nearly four years operating at 3850 Sherwood Drive. The shop served bubble tea, slush drinks, and a range of teas with customizable toppings including boba pearls. Until recently, it was open every day of the week; the owners announced Monday closures before announcing the full closure.

The final day of operation is Sunday, Oct. 18. Customers can still visit until then.

In a statement on Instagram, Rich and Air wrote: "What we are most grateful for is you. Thank you for every visit, every drink, every conversation, and every bit of support you've shown us over the years. More than a bubble tea shop, Boba Bar became a community—and that is something we will cherish forever."

They added: "Thank you for choosing to support local, for believing in our little business, and for helping us make memories that we will carry with us long after our doors close."

Boba Bar is one of several small food and beverage businesses to close in the Edmonton area in recent months, including Island Brew Coffee House and a mini Tim Hortons inside Edmonton Mall.
