El Cortez patio destroyed in Whyte Ave fire

Fire crews brought a blaze at El Cortez restaurant on Whyte Avenue under control Thursday night, June 25, after the patio at the rear of the building became fully involved.
Edmonton Fire Rescue Services responded to the fire near 83 Avenue and Gateway Boulevard around 9:42 p.m. Crews arrived three minutes later to find the patio fully engulfed. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes and declared out at 11:11 p.m.
Edmonton Police Service was also on scene. There were no injuries. The fire is under investigation.
