Edmonton's Clareview Community Recreation Centre will close its aquatic centre starting October 10 for four months of renovations, reopening March 1, 2027.
Work will replace the large purple waterslide, replace lockers in change rooms, and add privacy stalls to the men's aquatic change room. The facility at 3804 139th Ave. NW opened in 2014 at a construction cost of $105 million.
The closure comes as the city's other major aquatic centre remains offline. Peter Hemingway Aquatic Centre, damaged by the July 10 storm, is still undergoing remediation work with completion projected for mid- to late fall. The city said it is finalizing additional information about the Clareview renovations and waterslide replacement, expecting to release details early next week.
With outdoor pools already packed on sunny days, the dual-closure will put pressure on remaining aquatic facilities through the winter months.
