Two teenage boys were shot outside a shopping centre near Saddleback Road and 27 Avenue in southeast Edmonton on October 9 at approximately 1:20 p.m. The 15-year-old and 16-year-old were struck by gunfire from a vehicle that fled the scene. Both were taken to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

One male youth has been charged in connection with the shooting. The investigation is ongoing. Sweet Grass School, located nearby, was temporarily placed on lockdown due to the proximity of the incident.

The shooting marks the latest in a series of violent incidents involving Edmonton youth. In August, a 16-year-old girl was killed in a northeast Edmonton shooting, and as recently as mid-August, two Edmonton teenagers were killed in separate incidents, prompting concern about youth violence in the city.
