Fort Saskatchewan Piranhas swimmers put together an outstanding performance over the past weekend at the Wainwright meet, with an incredible 90 percent of all swims resulting in personal best times.

Twenty-six athletes competed, and coaches said the team's improvement throughout the season has been remarkable. Braeden Paul set a club record in the boys' 13–14 50-metre breaststroke. Other high-point medalists included Natasha Reutow (7–8 girls, silver), Arsene Basilo (7–8 boys, silver), Emily Bechtel (9–10 girls, silver), Axton Eischen (9–10 boys, silver), and Ella Bechtel (11–12 girls, silver).

Two weeks earlier, the Piranhas fielded 34 athletes at the Derrick Pool in Edmonton, including five swimmers competing in their first meet. The team earned 10 medals — the most the Piranhas have won at a single meet in over two years. Standouts included Ella Bechtel (11–12 girls, gold), Braeden Paul (13–14 boys, gold), and Grace Laybourne (15–17 girls, silver, a club record).

"Congratulations to all of our swimmers on two fantastic meets," Piranhas staff said. "We're excited to keep the momentum going as we head into the final month of the season."
