Connor McDavid reached 30 assists in 15 games, the fastest any player has reached that mark in NHL history. CityNews Edmonton reported that Evan Bouchard's second-period power-play goal set up the milestone assist in Sunday night's game against the New York Rangers.

The previous record belonged to Wayne Gretzky, who needed 16 games to reach 30 assists in the 1984-85 season.

McDavid has recorded at least one assist in every Oilers game this season, a run of 15 consecutive games and an NHL record. He had 13 consecutive games with an assist before Sunday, a mark he set on Thursday. After 15 games he has nine goals and 39 points, a pace the source puts at 218 points over an 84-game season.

The Oilers next play the Devils on Tuesday.

HighOnCity reported in June that McDavid won the Ted Lindsay Award for a record-tying fifth time, matching Gretzky.
