Twenty years after Edmonton nurse Nadine Robinson was found dead in her home, her family is still seeking answers and calling for anyone with information to come forward.
Robinson, a mother who worked as a nurse for dementia patients at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and other Edmonton facilities, was remembered by her brother Kevin as kind and caring, known for her quick smile and quirky sense of humour. "Her smile, just remembering how often we got to see it," Kevin Robinson said. "This was not a not-normal interaction; this is what it was like every day."
Kevin Robinson, who discovered his sister, said he needs to know what happened. "Being the one who found her, I need to know about why I saw what I saw," he said. "So for me, no amount of time that this person serves will bring back my sister."
Edmonton police say Robinson's file remains open and they are asking for tips, though they are not answering questions about suspects or charges. Kevin Robinson is urging anyone who knew something in 2006 but didn't speak up to come forward now, so their aging parents can have closure while they're still alive.
The family is holding a 20th anniversary vigil on Sunday, July 19, at John D. Bracco School Field from 3 to 6 p.m., with a torch-lighting ceremony at 4 p.m. They are collecting donations for WIN House, which supports women and children fleeing domestic violence.
