The Edmonton Oilers are in contract negotiations with goaltender Connor Ingram as they consider their options between the pipes for next season.

Ingram made 32 regular-season appearances in his first year with the Oilers, posting a 2.60 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage, along with five playoff starts. According to a report from Sportsnet's Mark Spector, Ingram is bullish on re-signing with Edmonton and loved his time with the team — a stance he says is not swayed by the recent hiring of new head coach Mike Babcock.

However, GM Stan Bowman is exploring other options. The Oilers have just $7.4 million in remaining cap space after recent extensions to Connor Murphy and Jason Dickinson, and they still need to address pending restricted free agents Colton Dach and Spencer Stastny, plus five unrestricted free agents including Jack Roslovic, Adam Henrique, and Kasperi Kapanen.

Other goalies linked to Edmonton include Sebastian Cossa, Filip Gustavsson, and free agent Sergei Bobrovsky. Analytics project Ingram could sign a two-year deal averaging roughly $3 million annually, which may make him the most cap-friendly option available to the team.
