One week after NHL free agency opened July 1, 2026, a total of 10 ex-Edmonton Oilers players are still searching for new homes.

Evander Kane, 34, saw his offensive production dip after being traded to Vancouver in a cap dump last summer. His defensive metrics remain underwhelming, and with the Canucks headed into a rebuild, he'll need to find elsewhere to play.

Connor Ingram, 29, put up decent numbers to stabilize Oilers goaltending last season—16-10-3 with a .899 save percentage—but wasn't extended. Edmonton opted to acquire Frederik Andersen and Devon Levi instead. It remains uncertain if Ingram can stick in the NHL elsewhere.

Jeff Petry, 38, was once one of the Oilers' most promising defencemen but has bounced around the league in recent years, splitting last season between Florida and Minnesota. His offensive production is nearly non-existent and his advanced age suggests retirement may be near.

Cam Talbot, 39, came off a brutal season with the Detroit Red Wings—posting a .883 save percentage and -13.1 goals-saved-above-expected. That marked his first down season in a while, signalling his time in the NHL may be quickly coming to an end.

John Klingberg, 33, proved he's still an NHL-calibre defenceman during a decent season with San Jose, though his defensive metrics are spotty. David Perron, 38, has been a consistent 50-point guy but production has slowed as he approaches 40. Adam Henrique, 36, managed just 15 points in 65 games last season.

The market has moved slower than usual this summer, with other high-scoring options like Anthony Mantha and Patrick Kane also remaining unsigned.
